Juvenile Law Center's projects uphold our mission to protect and promote children’s rights and interests in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, with a particular emphasis on ensuring that public systems do not harm children and youth in their care.

Creating successful and replicable models of juvenile justice system reform.
Developing and promoting a system to identify health issues of girls entering the juvenile justice system.
Developing best practices and policies for record and information sharing in the juvenile justice system.
Working with the child welfare and juvenile justice systems to aid older youth in their transition out of these public systems that have supported them, and into successful, stable, healthy, and productive lives as adults in the community.
Advancing policies and practices for foster children that minimize education instability, reduce dropout rates, and promote opportunities for post-secondary education.
Reversing school disciplinary policies and practices that too often push youth from their schools into the legal system.
Ensuring that children and youth have timely access to evidence-based physical and behavioral (mental health and substance abuse) health care services.
